Peter Young, President and Chief Executive Officer

Peter F. Young joined ITI in 2007 following more than 25 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry experience covering all phases of the research, development, and commercialization. He previously served for seven years as the CEO of AlphaVax, Inc., a privately held biotechnology company in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, that is developing new vaccines based on a novel vaccine vector technology. Mr. Young’s leadership took AlphaVax from an academic- stage to a clinical-stage company, building an organization of 75 people and leveraging its development and manufacturing capabilities with $80 million in peer-reviewed product development grants. Prior to that, Mr. Young led the 5-fold growth of Glaxo Wellcome’s global HIV portfolio during the latter part of the 1990’s. Earlier, he held other commercial and general management positions at Glaxo, as well as marketing and commercial roles at Abbott International in the 1980’s. He started in the pharmaceutical industry in 1980 with Richardson Merrell as a sales representative, and has lived and worked in the US, Greece and the Middle East, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, and London during a career that has spanned the global health care industry. Mr. Young is a past member of the board of directors of BIO, the national biotechnology industry organization, chairman of the North Carolina bioscience organization, member of the executive committee of the NC Council for Entrepreneurial Development, and member of the advisory board of the eastern NC region of Teach for America. Mr. Young holds an MBA in marketing and a BA in history from Indiana University, where he was also elected Phi Beta Kappa.


Jeffery D. Edelson, MD FRCPC MHSc., Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Jeff Edelson joined ITI in May 2008 from Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceutical and Development where he was the Therapeutic Area Head - Novel Therapeutics.  In this role and other leadership positions at J&J, Dr. Edelson was responsible for providing overall strategic and operational support for discovery, early development and full development project teams and clinical development.  Dr. Edelson led numerous successful global registrations.  Prior to J&J, Dr Edelson was a Senior Director with Aventis and has also worked at Therion Biologics Corp and SB/GSK.  Dr. Edelson also has a rich background in the medical academic community, and continues as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.


Michael E. Lusty, Ph.D., Vice President, Pharmaceutical Development

Dr. Michael Lusty joined ITI in 2007 as Vice President of Pharmaceutical Development. Michael has extensive experience in pharmaceutical development and deep expertise in nasal and pulmonary delivery technology.  Before joining ITI, Michael was Vice President of Aerosol Development for Kos Pharmaceuticals prior to and through its acquisition by Abbott.  Previous roles include Becton Dickenson where he was Director of Advanced Technology, Insulin Delivery Systems and Schering-Plough in the role of Associate Director for Delivery Device & Pharmaceutical Package Development.  Michael has been active in the International Pharmaceutical Aerosol Consortium on Regulation and Science (IPAC-RS) serving on a number of working groups, and serving on the Board of Directors. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.  He is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Pharmacy at Temple University, Philadelphia teaching in the Masters Level QA/RA program.

 


Kathleen Boziwick, Vice President of Commercial Development

Kathleen Boziwick has over 20 years experience in the drug industry. Ms. Boziwick joined ITI in 2007 as Vice President Commercial Development. Prior to joining ITI, Kathleen was most recently a Director, Team Leader in the Product Evaluation Group at Pfizer Inc, where she spent most of her pharmaceutical career. At Pfizer, Kathleen held positions of increasing responsibility in the Consumer Healthcare Group -- in OTC Product Management, East European Business Development and Rx-to-OTC conversions. After transferring to Pfizer’s Worldwide Pharmaceutical group in 1999, Kathleen spent many years managing teams engaged in Rx commercial product development work across a wide range of therapeutic areas for both internal pipeline candidates and externally-sourced licensing and acquisition opportunities. Before joining Pfizer, Kathleen was in Product Management at Sterling Drug Inc. Kathleen holds an MBA in Marketing and a BS in Chemistry.
