Peter Young, President and Chief Executive OfficerPeter F. Young joined ITI in 2007 following more than 25 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry experience covering all phases of the research, development, and commercialization. He previously served for seven years as the CEO of AlphaVax, Inc., a privately held biotechnology company in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, that is developing new vaccines based on a novel vaccine vector technology. Mr. Young’s leadership took AlphaVax from an academic- stage to a clinical-stage company, building an organization of 75 people and leveraging its development and manufacturing capabilities with $80 million in peer-reviewed product development grants. Prior to that, Mr. Young led the 5-fold growth of Glaxo Wellcome’s global HIV portfolio during the latter part of the 1990’s. Earlier, he held other commercial and general management positions at Glaxo, as well as marketing and commercial roles at Abbott International in the 1980’s. He started in the pharmaceutical industry in 1980 with Richardson Merrell as a sales representative, and has lived and worked in the US, Greece and the Middle East, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, and London during a career that has spanned the global health care industry. Mr. Young is a past member of the board of directors of BIO, the national biotechnology industry organization, chairman of the North Carolina bioscience organization, member of the executive committee of the NC Council for Entrepreneurial Development, and member of the advisory board of the eastern NC region of Teach for America. Mr. Young holds an MBA in marketing and a BA in history from Indiana University, where he was also elected Phi Beta Kappa. |
Edwin Cohen, FounderEd Cohen founded ITI in 1998, building upon a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry. He is founder and former Chairman and CEO of Barr Laboratories, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical, NYSE-listed company with more than $1 billion in annual sales. Before founding Barr in 1970, Mr. Cohen in 1959 co-founded Davis Edwards Pharmacal Corporation, one of the first companies to manufacture and promote multisource drugs. He served as Executive Vice President until 1970. Mr. Cohen is a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Generic Pharmaceutical Industry Association and a founding member and Executive Board member of the National Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers. In 1997, Mr. Cohen received an Honorary Doctor of Science Degree from Fordham University and in 1999, was appointed to the Fordham Board of Trustees. |
Bruce A PeacockBruce Peacock joined SV Life Sciences in May 2006 after leading several successful health care companies. He was most recently CEO of The Little Clinic, a start-up medical care services company. Prior to that, Mr. Peacock served as President and CEO and as a director of Adolor Corporation, a publicly traded biopharmaceutical products company focused on the development and commercialization of new therapies for pain management. During his tenure at Adolor from 2002 to 2005, Mr. Peacock led efforts resulting in the acceptance of the company’s first New Drug Application, the completion of a successful $100 million secondary offering, and the licensing of a second clinical stage product. Prior to joining Adolor, Mr. Peacock was President, CEO and a director of Orthovita, Inc., a publicly traded orthopedic products company. He has also held senior management positions at Cephalon, Inc., where he was executive vice president, chief operating officer and a director, and at Centocor Inc., where he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Mr. Peacock received his bachelor’s degree from Villanova University in 1973 and his Certified Public Accountant’s degree in 1975. |
Jim TullisJim Tullis is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tullis-Dickerson & Co., Inc. Prior to establishing Tullis-Dickerson, Mr. Tullis had a distinguished career on Wall Street, principally at Morgan Stanley, where he led health care investment research, and was listed as a #1 All Star Team analyst by Institutional Investor Magazine for his work in pharmaceuticals. G. Steven BurrillG. Steven Burrill has been involved in the growth and prosperity of the biotechnology industry for over 40 years. An early pioneer, Mr. Burrill is one of the original architects of the industry and one of its most avid and sustained developers. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Pharmasset, is a member of the Boards of Directors of Catalyst Biosciences, DepoMed (NASDAQ:DEPO), ProteoGenix, Intranasal Therapeutics, Targacept (NASDAQ:TRGT), Phytomedics and Proventys. Prior to founding Burrill & Company in 1994, he spent 28 years with Ernst & Young, directing and coordinating the firm’s services to clients in the biotechnology/ life sciences/high technology/manufacturing industries worldwide. In 2002, Mr. Burrill was recognized as the biotech investment visionary by the prestigious Scientific American magazine (The Scientific American 50). Mr. Burrill is also the founder of the National Science & Technology Medals Foundation and currently serves as Chairman of its Board of Directors. He also serves on the Boards of Directors for the Bay Area Science Infrastructure Consortium, BayBio, the California Healthcare Institute, Campaign for Medical Research, (Chairman) Exploratorium, the Kellogg Center for Biotechnology, The National Health Museum, The Kramden Institute, The Genetics Policy Institute, and Research!America. He also serves on the Advisory Boards of the Washington Drug Letter and BioExecutive, and is the Chairman of the San Francisco Mayor’s Biotechnology Advisory Council (MayBAC). Robert Weisskoff, Ph.D.Dr. Weisskoff has worked extensively in both academia and the bioscience industry for the past 18 years. Prior to joining Fidelity in 2004, he held senior R&D and business development positions at pharmaceutical and medical device companies. During his academic career, Dr. Weisskoff was Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School, and on the faculty of the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences Technology (HST) Program. He also performed research at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was Associate Director of the nuclear magnetic resonance center and worked on the intersection of basic research, medical technology development, and clinical research in a variety of areas. Dr. Weisskoff is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and an inventor of three U.S. patents. Dr. Weisskoff serves on the Board of Directors for Transave and Intranasal Therapeutics, Inc. and is an observer on the Boards of EnVivo Pharmaceuticals and CardioKine. Dr. Weisskoff holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from Columbia University. He received his undergraduate degree in Physics from Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. |
